History records the first members of the New Jersey State Police riding out of their Sea Girt training center on horseback and motorcycle in a “raging snowstorm.” The Outfit, as the organization would be called amongst the troopers, had been created to combat a myriad of problems plaguing the state of New Jersey. In the years which were to follow, the Outfit evolved into the most diversified and respected state police agency in the country.
